Mother's Day is coming soon! So we've put together a list of factors to look out for when selling your bouquets online for Mother's Day, from customer searches, to our predicted average order value!
We've reviewed past searches on floom.com over Mother's Day 2022 and compared the searches to the whole of 2022 to give us an idea of what customers are looking for over the Mother's Day period. When thinking of what bouquets to sell on floom, make sure to include some of these key stems!
Mother's Day sees a slight difference in searches, with tulips and lilies being the second, and third most searched stem on floom.com over Mother's Day last year. If you're looking to sell lower priced, stems it might be useful to include bouquets with lilies as your main stem. Tulips meanwhile, should be part of at least one of your bouquets, as this is a traditional stem purchased for Mother's Day, with the seasonal event seeing the highest searches for the stem at any point within the year.
Elsewhere, Roses, whilst still the most searched stem over the Mother's Day period, saw a decrease in searches, dropping from their usual 30% search throughout the year of 2022, to 23% showing it is still a good idea to offer rose bouquets, just not in red.
There is very little change to the searches in colour on Floom.com over the Mother's Day period, however, some notable changes are 'Red' not appearing in our top 5, whilst 'Purple' sees an increase in demand compared to the rest of the year. 'Yellow', 'white' and 'pink' all see slight increases.
Pastel bouquets

Whilst not as synonymous as roses are for Valentine's Day, pastel bouquets seem to sell well over Mother's Day week. The week leading to Mother's Day saw a large number of bouquets that contained pastel whites, oranges and purples become some of our most purchased products for the week.
We believe that the average order value for Mother's Day 2023 will be £70, an order value marginally higher than the current average order value for the UK (£68.61). Over Valentine's Day, we saw our average order value increase from £68.61, to £80.60. Pricing for Mother's Day is traditionally lower than Valentine's Day, as customers wish to spend more on their partners, than on their Mothers.
It is a good idea to offer a selection of varying bouquet prices as a result, ones that target past performance, and ones that are priced reasonably to provide an option for lower spenders.
Mother's Day advertising

Whether you're making a bouquet comprised of roses, tulips or posies, adding 'Mother' or some deviation of the word helps sell bouquets for Mother's Day. Unlike Valentine's, customers need more guidance in choosing the perfect bouquet, advertising that your bouquet has been made in mind for Mother's, can help sway customer attention.
