We talk to Ana Cuciuc, the founder and lead designer of Wild Stems LA situated within West Hollywood, California. Wild Stems was created for those who appreciate the beauty of seasonal flowers and value their philosophy. I wanted to elevate the experience of receiving flowers by focusing on a slow and sustainable style.

How did you get into the floristry business?
I started as a floral designer assistant in a flower shop 3.5 years ago. My first task was to fill lots of vases with water and I remember thinking “oh really? This is what I’m supposed to do?? This isn’t fulfilling at all!” Then obviously things changed, I’ve learned a lot, and this year I’ve opened my own flower shop.

What's your favorite thing to design? I love designing wild arrangements and installations! If a flower is available any time of the year, I find it ordinary and usually avoid it. Instead, when I notice new stems from our local growers, my heart is filled with joy and excitement. I instantly pick them, smell them and take a moment to appreciate and sense their essence. Sometimes it feels like a new chapter is about to unfold, while another one is coming to an end. I get sad when the Poppy season is over but I know the Peonies are on their way, and I have to let them go and be open for new challenges. |

What would you like our followers to know about your shop?
We’re specialized in sustainable floral design, seasonal local wildflowers and self-care gifts. We believe flowers have magic powers! They heal, bring joy and life into any space and they teach us to appreciate the rhythms of nature and to notice the passage of time in our lives.
That’s the long version, but the short answer to what drives me is the big and deep love I have for flowers. I feel like I make a difference when I create the arrangements. There is so much love in each and every one of them! When I receive feedback emails, I get a big sense of fulfillment. I know I made someone’s day and that’s priceless.
